Synopsis
Ten o'clock (2010-2019) is an experimental film using appropriated BBC television footage of election night coverage from the UK general elections of 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Using the first five minutes of live coverage before the polls close at 10pm on election day, the film aligns the timeframes of the four pieces of unedited live footage as we get closer to the chimes of Big Ben – signalling the official end of the democratic act. Following the weeks of argument and debate expected and reported upon by news organisations, such as the BBC, election day itself in the UK is a strange, quiet day in the media, as millions of us make up our minds. That is, until 10 o’clock.
As we reach the culmination of the 2024 UK General Election, this film reflects on our democratic process in a cacophony of clamouring voices and the building drama of what the result might be and ultimately what it might mean for all of us.
